This week’s episode of Star Citizen’s usual video series is all about the more industrious kind of pilot. The one who likes to do things that help others or is eager to go into the void to crunch on rocks. The person who likes space tow trucks and new mining ships. No shade, by the way; I love space trucks.
The video begins with the reveal of the Argo SRV, aka the aforementioned tow truck craft, which is now flyable in the game. The showcase talks about the manufacturer’s design language, how the ship works now, and how its value will grow later as the sandbox introduces spaceship soft death that can see player and NPC ships marooned without fuel or vital operational systems.
The latter half of the video introduces the RSI Arrastra, a mining ship that’s intended to bridge the hardware progression gap between the smaller-sized Argo Mole and the capital ship-sized RSI Orion. As such, the Arrastra is designed for a crew of up to five players, with multiple seats for individual mining turrets, a pair of on-board ore refining stations, and plenty of space to either gather up materials or bring on mining vehicles for planetside operations. The Arrastra is still in-concept with no launch date tied down yet.
Speaking of spaceships, SC’s free-to-play Intergalactic Aerospace Expo event continues to rumble on, with Anvil Aerospace being the highlighted manufacturer for the day. CIG has also released the StarEngine demonstration footage that debuted at this year’s CitizenCon as its own standalone video.
