Embers Adrift adds more solo content and bulletin board system with its January update

So Embers Adrift has a bit of a situation. The game is very decidedly focused around having people group up and take on challenges as a larger team; that’s a stated design goal. At the same time, when people just start the game, they may not yet want to team up, which can lead to distinct problems wherein players are reluctant to play because they aren’t confident in a team yet. So Stormhaven’s solution is to add more solo low-level and low-impact content, which the latest patch is doing with more solo loops as well as new bulletin boards.

“One of our primary goals in 2024 is to deliver more structured gameplay for those who begin their adventures alone,” the studio says. “We hope that by providing more tangible goals with meaningful rewards to solo adventurers they will stick around longer increasing the likelihood of forming a group to tackle a dungeon or complete a quest. To start the year off we are launching three new EV solo loops and our new Bulletin Board System!

Bulletin boards in particular offer players new tasks to take on that are designed to be done solo but also sit adjacent to more group-focused tasks, and of course they can also be taken on in a team. So that’s fun for everyone, and if you’re looking to get your feet wet it’s a perfect way to get started.
