RuneScape introduces the Gate of Elidinis, its newest non-combat boss encounter

Usually when an MMORPG adds a boss fight, that means player characters are preparing weapons and fireballs to hurl at a gigantic monster’s ankles until it falls over and explodes into loot. That isn’t always the case with RuneScape, which has skilling bosses, aka bosses that require players to use non-combat skills to take them down, and one such skilling boss has arrived with the Gate of Elidinis opening in this week’s update.

This new skilling boss requires players utilize their Divination, Crafting, Mining and Agility skills to cleanse a corrupting force. The encounter can be played either solo or with up to nine others and rewards players with offhand items for Divination and Runecrafting, a new combat prayer, and a new god book. Players can also earn extra rewards by taking part in an event that runs from now until October 6th.

As for other updates in the weekly patch, that’s exclusively about fixing things, whether its graphical engine bugs, an extra health UI element not disappearing when it’s supposed to, and another health bar bug related to the Zamorak fight.
