Elodie Games’ PvPvE extraction RPG Seekers of Skyveil has been moving through several closed playtests on random Fridays in October and November, but the most recent one last weekend has some of the more intriguing updates made to the game yet, as it applies a few major features that shake things up quite a bit.
First of all, extraction now requires players to collect keys in order to get out of a match with their goodies – one key for solo players or three keys for teams. Keys will be inventory items meaning that they drop on death, and those who defeat another player team’s extraction core as they attempt to extract will see those keys drop to the ground for gathering.
The idea with this change is to “pump up the tension and the opportunities to fight for your right to GTFO,” though iteration will almost certainly happen to what’s called a highly experimental mechanic.
Another new feature is the addition of bounties that pop up in a match, which award extra gold for taking out specific PvE targets, with PvP bounties planned for sometime later. Once again the idea is to encourage more PvP fights through these “honeypots” as well as provide motivating objectives.
Other things of note in the last test update include map changes, UI improvements, character tuning, and a third item overhaul, which collectively has induced a full progress wipe for the game. As for prior patches, those brought in things like better ability leveling, lobby chat, and a gear cap.
