Thursday, February 19th, won’t be bringing the next season to the multiplayer MMO-styled dungeon runner Fellowship, but it is bringing a pre-season patch, which will make a number of adjustments to several aspects of the so-called MODA (that’s “massively online dungeon adventure” in case you forgot).
First off are targeted changes to the gem system for endgamers, which include faster progression for alts, bug fixes, more interesting bonuses for gem tracks, and a crafting item that will grant players the option to add empowered sockets to normal items or non-empowered sockets to set items.
The vast majority of the Pre-Season 2 update is otherwise targeting helping new players progress. Lowbies can expect more advanced dungeon mechanics and dungeon timers to start at the paragon capstone level instead of lower league levels, an emphasis on learning dungeons at lower levels, and a new Pathfinder’s Guidance buff for early dungeons that delineates a clear path through an encounter to ensure 100% kill completion and grants a haste buff.
Of course that’s not to suggest that vets are being left ignored, as there will also be major weapon trait updates, two new heroes, and a host of hero adjustments that broadly emphasize survivability, damage optimization, and time pressure over one-shot mechanics. The video below offers some more granular details on the patch.
