Stars Reach devs discuss the design of newly released planet Crucible and future patch plans

With the Crucible update currently live in Stars Reach, it would stand to reason that the developers at Playable Worlds would… well, talk about the Crucible update currently live in Stars Reach. This shouldn’t be a surprise topic for the studio’s return to livestreaming, though there were other things talked about as well.

Indeed, the developers brought on to the broadcast explain some of what Crucible is meant to do, such as giving players a first taste at a more hostile and combat-centric biome and introduce them to more resource gathering gameplay mechanics.

The devs also discuss how this new build is helpful for “getting extra statistics to see where the game is actually failing right now,” particularly for the players who don’t engage with the official Discord. There is also a promise that future builds will leverage more statistics gathering in this manner.

Other things being focused on for the future include continued performance improvements, map and waypoint updates including the potential for tradeable maps, changing update cadence based on feature readiness instead of holding to a three week cadence, UI updates, creating more decor items, and discussion of an upcoming pistol weapon.
