Player housing is coming to Elder Scrolls Online

While it might be a while coming, player housing has been confirmed as an upcoming feature for Elder Scrolls Online. Start picking out your wallpaper and crown molding now, people!

In a recent interview, Game Director Matt Firor said that ZeniMax is kicking around ideas for ESO’s version of housing: “Internally, the development team have different concepts that are currently checked — from simple over extensively to ‘impossible.’ In the end it will probably be a mix of all variants which pays particular attention to the fact that it has a very solid structure, which is also reminiscent of the housing from the single-player titles in the series.”

Creative Director Rich Lambert acknowledged on this past week’s ESO livestream that housing is in the initial stages of development and declined to state when it might be coming to the game.

Take the final fantasy 11 approach and Skyrim and put them together to get an amazing hybrid. What does this do? In every main city put a special entry way into a zone that people can load in to the housing area just how we load in to new zones and such, now since I don’t know what kind of trouble this would do the servers I would suggest making the area private, like final fantasy 11 does, with the exception that you are actually out side, in a decent size area, that looks similar to the area where you build your house in Skyrim, where you can get to build your house, add a stable, where your actual mount would be, and add what ever you want in your house. Now the cool thing about final fantasy 11 was that you can invite people in to your place, so you could allow the player to show off The place only if the players friend is in the group and they warp to the player and the player has the option of visitors on, for people to come in to that zone.

I hope we can modify the hell out of them, as opposed to paint-by-numbers housing.

AGx I agree.  You can breeze throuh PvE in a matter of weeks.  And basically doing it yourself. The group dungeons are nice but if you have the right people they too are a breeze. The only areas that are dfficult are  “camp” areas.  Bosses are impossible to beat on your own.  This is where co-op play shines.  But not enough of it sadly.

I’m still keeping my eye on ESO. I like it but there are still a few too many issues I have with the game-play (mostly due to how cooperative questing isn’t exactly an easy thing to make happen and how mind numbingly easy everything is.

The more world-building mechanisms they add the better. Of course, this could be a year or two out still.

TheUltimate3 I can’t afford housing in FFXIV, either. But even if I could .. there aren’t any plots available on my server (though the last time I checked was a few months ago). *resists bitter rant*

TheUltimate3 *patpats* There there. If it helps, I’m actually listening to the Mass Effect OSTs and Vigil actually came on the moment that I read your comment. Synchronicity has provided a soundtrack to your sadness.
