Heroes of the Storm championships are live this weekend, with more championships coming at BlizzCon

Which team in the North American region is best at playing Heroes of the Storm? You can find out this weekend with the American championships for the game. Eight teams enter as competitors, but only one will emerge victorious. If you can’t make it to Las Vegas to watch the events live on Saturday and Sunday, you can watch the official stream on the game’s Twitch channel, with streams starting at 1:00 p.m. EDT both days.

This championship serves as the prelude to the BlizzCon world championships, which will be kicking off for HotS as well as Hearthstone, StarCraft II, and World of Warcraft during the week of October 28th. The best teams from this competition are the ones that will be representing the region in the final contest of skill, so there’s all the more reason to keep your eyes peeled this weekend.

I’ve been tuning in and out. I don’t really like playing HotS but it’s pretty fun to watch. Definitely spectator-friendly.

Armsbend Sorenthaz Yeah so a few of them did get adjusted but last I remember Jaina, Rehgar, Zagara, Arthas, Muradin, Valla, Uther, Zeratul, Illidan, and Tyrande were all top level picks.  Arthas/Muradin especially became so after Diablo, ETC, and Stitches got big nerfs.

Sorenthaz A few buffs, like Nazeebo and Malf put them top tier and some nerfs, like to 3 Vikings and Brightwing, wrecked them.

Armsbend That’s actually a pretty awesome portrait.  Thanks for the info.

Armsbend MorpayneRADIO So basically the top tier heroes haven’t changed that much since I last paid attention to that stuff in beta.  Lol.

MrFester Well you’d be wrong about that. Not that that stopped the first championship from happening during beta.

The ‘Hero’ viability spread seems comparable to that of DOTA 2.

Unless you’re using some metric other than ‘win rate’ to determine viability.

MorpayneRADIO Older heroes that are all top teir are:  Jaina, Rehgar, Zagara, Arthas, Muradin, Valla, Uther, Malfurion, Zeratul, Illidan, Tyrande, Nazeebo.

New heroes that are tourney picks are: Leoric, Johanna, Kael and probably Kharazim (this will be his first).

So, nope.

MorpayneRADIO That’s how power creep works in most MOBAs.  Smite has similar issues.  LoL as well.  Hell with LoL even “champion reworks” can be completely OP for no reason other than Riot wants to change things up and see how things go.
