Vampires, blood, and underworld horror weren’t enough to propel Dogma: Eternal Night to its Kickstarter campaign goal. The title fell well short of its $100,000 goal, racking up a little over $35,000 from 435 backers over the past month.
Prelude Games Factory vowed to keep working on the project, saying that it would be asking for donations on its own site: “Unfortunately, we were unable to achieve the minimum goal as planned. But it doesn’t mean that we stop developing our project. We still have a large fan community and we are sure that we will fulfil our dream with your help. Soon (maybe today) we will launch our own crowdfunding campaign on our website.”
Dogma (formerly Project Dogmat) is clearly attempting to capitalize on the interest that fans had for the now-canceled World of Darkness. It remains to be seen if the project can move forward with grassroots support.
DPandaren Sorenthaz That’s what the Twitter teases seemed to be indicating.  I.e. it’ll be a successor of sorts to Bloodlines and Obsidian would bring in some of the older big names (including Chris Avellone and Brian Mitsoda (the writer for VtM Bloodlines)) who aren’t working with Obsidian anymore but were expressing great interest in helping Obsidian with it.
ddocentral PaganRites Astald I agree.  I hope they make it.  I’m going to watch from the sidelines for a bit but will definitely back if it looks like Dogma is progressing.
PaganRites Astald Backing the game for $15 or $30 is not much of a risk. If Dogma can get many small, low risk donations, they will be able to reach Beta and get real funding.
Sorenthaz I would be entirely happy with another game like Bloodlines. It doesn’t even need to be an MMO.
“We still have a large fan community…”
Apparently not.
if I was running that show I’d drop the “Dogma” part and just go with “Eternal Night”. Â Â That would please fans of the genre more I think, it’s a prettier, more descriptive, more dignified name.
Saerain Neo_Wolf Silverlock I would tend to agree, I suspect something more along the line of Bloodlines is more likely from them.
Neo_Wolf Saerain Silverlock Mm, and I personally doubt that whatever Paradox has Obsidian doing is an MMO. Not really their MO, MMOs. I understand they had some involvement localizing Skyforge, but eh…
Saerain Neo_Wolf Silverlock True, although I don’t think only WoD fans were interested and vampire/werewolf content has appealed to many for many years. Plus dogma didn’t look too bad and if it were made is undoubtedly a lot closer to being playable and accessible than anything Paragon may have which if anything is literally on the drawing board and brainstorming stage of development only, if at all.
crawlkill Neo_Wolf Silverlock Although that is undoubtedly true it has no relevance here is there is no infringement for copyright to be interested in.
