Post-apoc MMO Crossout’s closed beta has begun

Gaijin Entertainment and Targem Games are driving Crossout into closed beta today. Crossout is a post-apoc vehicle combat MMO, say the studios, and it’s even set up for VR. Early access bundles run $19.99 to $49.99 and include items and perks that will function in both rounds of beta and transfer to the live game.

“Players entering into the Closed Beta will be fighting on the outskirts of desolated cities, abandoned factories, in the desert and on a brand new map – Founders Canyon. The map is littered with rocks and the remains of giant statues scattered throughout the canyon which create an obstacle filled battlefield. Players are encouraged to use the environment to their advantage and try different tactics to defeat opponent drivers. Fast cars can maneuver among the rocks and break into the enemy base jumping from the top of a high rock outcropping, while slow vehicles can defend bases.”

Gaijin is also touting player-created leviathans — metal monsters — that are used by the game’s AI against players in PvE battles. “Every time a Leviathan wins a battle against other players, its creator will reap the rewards of combat,” says the studio.

You can sign up for the beta on the official site and check out the images and trailer below.

WoOpin Ceois Well I am sorry but nowadays they build the monetization system and not the gaming aspect. It’s sad what it is happening but it is everywhere. From F2P games to mobile games :(

Ceois Oh and before people say this is Alpha, yeah I get that but I have also seen the devs and mods reaction to peoples complaints.

The community is being silenced about the complaints to the repair system. It is the worst I have ever seen in any game. The only way to repair the item is to sacrifice the same item to add durability back. Or use in game credits seen as some weapons are selling for 8000 credits around 100 Euros you see the problem.

Basically right now and according to the devs this is working how they want. If you want to just PvP only be prepared to drop a lot of cash into the game. Because anything you progress with will be destroyed with the only wait to get the item back is either buy a new one on the market or run lots of PvE missions that are limited to so many a day.

If you want to PvE and play the markets drop out when your team is doing bad to screw them over then sure you can probably make it quite well in the game. If you want to PvP and have fun now and again with PvE then you better have a large wallet to support this.

The game is fun but the repair system has killed the experience for almost everyone and with the devs not willing to compromise to find a solution. I really hope they see the light.

Pashgan That would be cool, if only, and only if, they add a Third/First Person Shooter element to it allowing you to get out of your vehicle.

The art design for the vehicles is fantastic. Over-the-top, but still semi-plausible. I love it.
