Darewise Entertainment has officially launched the Kickstarter for survival sandbox ROKH today. The game allows players a freeform sandbox experience surviving on an eerily accurate Mars thanks to NASA data, with base construction, a programming system, crafting, trade, and death by sandstorms.

Darewise says it seeks $114,803 US (€100,000) in crowdfunding to “immediately put more resources on the development and ensure a bigger scope for the Early Access release” as well as to “convince game industry partners to join.”

“We hope to get your support to add more resources to the project and ship it with a larger feature set,” it writes. The studio currently stands at 17 people; it toted its demo to PAX East.

A little risk? Seriously? Because the games ship on Kickstarter all the time and in the promised general design?

Armsbend If I give someone money to get their project going and they complete the project and give me something in return that I gave them money for then I’m not sure how thats stupid?

I quite like the look of this. What they seem to have already looks a good quality so it bodes well for what they intend to release.  It does look a bit empty though….

Weren’t the devs touting this as an open world PVP game a little while ago?  If so, then no thanks.  If not, then I’m definitely watching this one.  A science based survival game set on Mars has a lot of potential.  I’d love this to come to fruition.

Armsbend Huxys “You are giving someone money to go get money.”
I think I got lost.  I give people money for abstract ideas and services which dont return actual physical objects or experiences all the time.  I especially give people money to go get me more money – that’s the best use of money.

I love space. I love sci-fi. I like surprisingly many movies set on Mars. However, after playing quite a few hours of Red Faction, I can say that I won’t play more games set there. It’s just too depressingly RED!
