The next week may be crucial to the future of ROKH, a persistent survival sandbox that happens to be set on Mars. Darewise Entertainment announced yesterday that it will be demoing the game at PAX East this weekend in the Kickstarter Arcade room. The demo will thrust a team of two into a a 155-square mile map of the Red Planet with the challenge to survive as long as possible.
Speaking of Kickstarter, Darewise is prepping a Kickstarter campaign for ROKH that will commence in early May. Will the exposure from PAX East help build momentum for the crowdfunding effort? We’ll see soon, but until then you can check out ROKH’s Kickstarter teaser video below.

I like the Mars idea. Good luck!

This would have been a good opportunity to tease my interest with showing some current gameplay. With this lack thereof, I’ll most likely forget this and miss the kickstarter entirely.
Hmmm, will be cool if its super difficult to survive against the environment, more than just players randomly killing each other.
I want a game where you are actually forced to work with other random people or you will just perish over and over from environmental aspects.
I wonder if this current crop of games in this genre are going to survive very long.
…
Yuckity yuck.
Syco_at_Twitch Most of the survival shit on steam is abandonware. I think people really want a finished polished survival game, but all we keep getting is this early access, kick starter crap than never gets finished.
Seems like Survival is the current trend
moirrey I am grateful I’ve found a few games that have been keeping me entertained for a few years now. I don’t depend on new releases to scratch that gaming itch and I can hunker down and wait out the deluge (more than a flood?) of survival games until that particular fad has blown over.
You call this a survival game?No stock assets, no logo for the trial version of recording software they are using covering half the screen. I didn’t see a single tree getting punched, and where are the zombies? They didn’t even mention how deep and innovative their crafting system is. Did these guys not even read the pamphlet on making a generic survival sandbox game that comes with every copy of unity now?
Gibbins It’s a “teaser” for the upcoming Kickstarter campaign. They have gameplay on youtube from GDC last year.
2 seconds of a sandstorm and some rocks is not gonna make me even look at their kickstarter page let alone fund them.
