Gazillion announced this morning that it’s partnering with cloud-streaming service Ubitus to launch Marvel Heroes in South Korea and Japan this summer with China “and other Asian territories in the months to follow.” The launch includes a crapton of platforms too:
“Leveraging Ubitus’ market and service reach, the two companies will roll out localized versions of the critically acclaimed massively multiplayer action-RPG across Asia, starting with Korea. This will include releases not only for PC and Mac, but also for tablets, smart TVs and IPTV set-top boxes, via Ubitus’ GameCloud technology.”

Soooo…. can I bring my existing characters across? There’s no way I’ll pay as much or dedicate as much time levelling heroes as I have already.
If it’s a case of starting over, I’ll just stay on the US servers kthnx. I’ve put too much into my account to toss it aside.
I hope it’s not Hulk sized, as very few Japanese out here know who he is. He’s probably the least popular Avenger. I have to really pantomime and emphasize his greenness to get even good English speakers to have an idea of who he is.
ChaosConstant Inventory management while on the commute.
Can I play this on my PS4 yet?
Greaterdivinity I wouldn’t be surprised, since their telco networks are a lot faster and more developed than most of the world. High population density with lots of disposable income makes fiber networks a lot more commercially viable.
Does this mean they’re bringing it to tablets stateside? The quote is a little unclear on that point.
I’ve always wanted to play Marvel Heroes on my phone/tablet! It wouldn’t be the best experience ever, but I think that, with a few UI changes, it would be doable.
I hope Asian expansion for the game won’t result in PWE/Neverwinter/STO-style Elemental Evil game-killing grind fest “improvements” to the gameplay (which is actually pretty fun at the moment).
So is like…cloud gaming actually a thing in Asia? Because I know it’s bombed in the West pretty hard an Microsoft’s whole “OH EM GEE AZURE SURFURS FOR CLOUD POWA!” has basically netted dedicated servers for multiplayer/AI. So curious as to if it’s managed to get a foothold/find success in China/elsewhere in Asia.
