WRUP: Asking if you’re the bad guy edition

On the dark side.

No one wants to be the bad guy. But sometimes, completely by accident, we wind up finding out that we are, in fact, the bad guy. We are the villain of the story. But how can you know? Just follow our simple guide, and ask yourself the following questions:

  • Do my personal logos incorporate a large number of skulls?
  • In every single movie I’ve seen, do the people like me turn out to be the heroes?
  • Do I use phrases like “for the greater good” or “history will vindicate me” when I take actions as simple as crossing the street?
  • Do I show up in a large number of photos waving from the back of a jeep?
  • Do I have an army of masked, jackbooted thugs under my command?
  • Have I ever watched an episode of G.I. Joe and thought that Cobra wasn’t really all that bad, when you get right down to it?
  • Will any success cause me to have the overwhelming urge to cackle?
  • Is my general approach to problems to see them as us vs. them?
  • Am I a Sith Lord?

If your answer to several of these questions is “yes,” you might be the bad guy. Or you might just be a Sith Lord, it’s hard to tell. Tell us your evil schemes in this week’s installment of What Are You Playing, or just tell us your regular non-evil schemes. Schemes and plans in general are welcome.

Andrew Ross (@dengarsw): It’s another Pokemon Go weekend as I’m homeless and leaving my Japanese hometown of four years to spend about a week in Osaka with family friends and a special someone. My laptop is packed up tight until then, so no Landmark, no Overwatch, no non-mobile games for a bit, though I may sneak in time for Hearthstone and Miitomo.

Brianna Royce (@nbrianna, blog): Definitely Guild Wars 2. I fell back in hard, and it helps that my husband and some guildies are playing too. We’re doing a smattering of the new season and Heart of Thorns catchup, and I’m tooling around on my alts as usual too.

Eliot Lefebvre (@Eliot_Lefebvre, blog): I’ll probably try to hit Final Fantasy XIV‘s seasonal event on a few alts while doing my usual tasks in the game, and I’ll also be hard at work catching up with World of Warcraft stuff before the Demon Hunter drop on Tuesday next week. That should be more than enough.

Justin Olivetti (@Sypster, blog): The announcement of RIFT: Starfall Prophecy has definitely got me back into the game and I’m working on speed-leveling a Rogue through intrepid adventures. Other than that, I have a little The Secret World questing to wrap up and might put in some Star Trek Online: Delta Rising time as well.

Your turn!
