Halloween is bringing some big changes to Epic Games’s popular battle royale title Fortnite, courtesy of the recently announced Fortnitemares seasonal event. The battle royale island is under attack from terrifying cube monsters, bringing a PvE element to the traditionally PvP-centric game, as players will need to defend themselves against both the zombie-like creatures as well as enemy players if they want to survive to earn a victory royale. Over the course of the event, players will be tasked with completing multiple sets of challenges, and completing each set will unlock a new in-game cosmetic, with the final set of challenges granting the new Dark Engine glider.
Save The World isn’t getting left out of the seasonal festivities either. Players will return to haunted Hexsylvania to “play through multiple sets of story quests and earn new rewards,” including new hero skin variants, new heroes, “and a few more surprises along the way.” Completing the event questlines will also earn players Candy, the Fortnitemare event currency, which can be spent to purchase unique Fortnitemare Llamas in the store.
In other Fortnite news, VG247 reports that Twitter users TwoEpicBuddies and FNBRLeaks have unearthed a handful of new skins, gliders, backblings, pickaxes, and emotes in the wake of today’s patch 6.20. Some of the new skins include the new, Day-of-the-Dead-themed Rosa and Dante reactive skins as well as the zombified Braniac Jonesy skin, to name a few. The leaks have also unveiled the Raptor Arctic skin, which TwoEpicBuddies suggests will probably be available as part of a store bundle.
