At the beginning of this month, the folks at Sandbox Interactive held their first roadmap Q&A livestream for Albion Online, in which they took questions from the community regarding what lies ahead for the sandbox MMO. Now, Game Director Robin Henkys is back with a dev update video to apprise players as to the progress of the upcoming Nimue update and give them a look at what they can expect from it.
One of the areas on which the update will be focusing is adding a few quality-of-life changes that players have been asking for. Guilds will be able to change their logos even after it’s been created, and players will be given the ability to mark targets and to see their party members’ combat roles in the open world, which will hopefully make it easier for groups to coordinate.
The Nimue update will also roll out two major features from the roadmap. The one the team is most excited about is the Crystal Realm GvG battle feature, which will allow teams of five to battle it out with opposing guilds to seize the loot of the crystal plane. The other big feature is the party finder system. It’s exactly what it sounds like, as it allows players to post activities that other players can then join, facilitating party formation both within and outside of guilds.
Henkys also talks a bit about another big roadmap feature that’s in the works, which is the overhaul of Albion’s open-world PvE experience. The Nimue update will feature some smaller additions that work toward this end, but the big feature, randomized dungeons, will probably be added in the update following Nimue, which is slated to be the first update of 2019.
