The Division 2 encourages players to get greedy with new Dark Zone mechanics

We’re only a couple of months out from the release of Ubisoft’s MMO third-person-shooter The Division 2, which will be bringing with it a whole load of changes to the original game’s formula — not least of all to its high-risk PvPvE Dark Zone content, which happens to be the subject of Arekkz Gaming’s latest preview video. Apparently, The Division 2 will be adding brand-new ways for agents to go rogue. In the original game, rogue status is granted only to players who attack other players within the Dark Zone, with enough transgressions eventually marking the rogue agent as the target of a zone-wide manhunt.

The Division 2, however, will let players go rogue in slightly less confrontational ways through the new Theft and Greed system. Through this system, players can break open chests they don’t have keys for, greedily hoard Dark Zone supply drops — usually communal loot chests — all for themselves, and even steal the loot of downed players, all of which will contribute toward ultimately granting access to the Thieves’ Den, where players may find an NPC willing to provide valuable rewards in exchange for some pilfered goods. Of course, such blatant skullduggery will earn players rogue status, eventually making them the target of a manhunt, so they’ll have to be swift and sneaky if they want to make off with their ill-gotten gains. For a more in-depth explanation of the Theft and Greed system — and to see some fresh gameplay footage from the Dark Zone — be sure to check out the videos from Arekkz Gaming just below.
