Elder Scrolls Online deep-dives Elsweyr’s Necromancer class – not just a ‘sorcerer with undead pets’

Do you pronounce it knee-crow or nay-crow? Either way, you’re getting a heaping helping of Necromancer goodness out of Elder Scrolls Online right now ahead of the impending launch of Elsweyr. The class is currently up on the PTS for player testing, but just to make sure you’re ready to raise the dead, ZeniMax has posted a deep-dive of the class in video format. MMO players who scoped out our own Tamriel Infinium last week will already be aware of the class’ skill lines and abilities, but here’s the recap:

“Should you choose to create a Necromancer, you’ll have three unique Skill Lines, each with five new Active Abilities, four Passive Abilities, and one Ultimate. Like the Warden class that came with ESO: Morrowind, the Necromancer has a Skill Line dedicated to damage (Grave Lord), tanking (Bone Tyrant), and healing (Living Death), bringing powerful new abilities and playstyles to the game.”

In the video, ESO Creative Direct Rich Lambert emphasizes the team’s focus on making sure the class has genuinely unique mechanics and fits properly into the lore – not just a “sorcerer with undead pets.” And like other shadowy class roles in the game, the Necro’s role isn’t entirely lawful, so players will have to juggle their relationship with the societal order of the gameworld too. Check out the whole video below:
