WRUP: What’s in the Forgetting Closet edition

Last week’s car bill: This is how I save so much money on my car loan. The company forgets they sent it and then they have to credit me for failure to properly notify while also waiving late fees. I wrote myself a note because otherwise I would also forget.

The complete run of the 1993 animated cartoon The Bots Master: This was a good show but apparently we all needed to forget about it.

An entire ham: I don’t know why there’s a ham in here.

Legendary columnist Phillip Michel: Yes, everyone’s favorite columnist from Massively-that-was has been locked in the Forgetting Closet for several years now. What’s that? You don’t remember Phillip’s columns like Keeping it Surreal, The Big Question, and Stop Me If You’ve Heard This Fun? Then I guess the closet works, doesn’t it, Phil? Don’t even bother asking about your boyfriend, Phil, he’s with me now.

A second entire ham: Okay, that one I do remember, but I don’t want to talk about it.

What Are You Playing: Really, this one seems obvious.

Bonus question: What’s your weirdest habit that you’re aware of? (That is entirely suitable to share in mixed company, please.)

Andrew Ross (@dengarsw): Pokemon Go has had a few weeks of events I’ve barely been able to participate in but I’m gonna try to hit it hard Sunday for community day, which also happens to be Undertale’s birthday. The day before will be a Smash Bros day I think, since the people at the console gaming party I go to enjoy that.

Weirdest, safest habit to share with the internet. Hmm… maybe blocking the elements. I’m taller and wider than most of the people I hang out with, so if I notice the sun’s in their eyes, I’ll try to cast a shadow over them, or if it’s windy, I’ll try to position it so I’m blocking some of the air. Not sure how often it’s noticed, but I don’t know anyone else that does that.

…or randomly using Japanese. In America. Old habits die hard, especially when I actually do use it at work sometimes.

Brianna Royce (@nbrianna, blog): I’ll probably be in Guild Wars 2 a bit, though my mother-in-law will be in town, so maybe not that much! I’ve almost completely finished map completion in Path of Fire on one character (about half of Vabbi to go), I swooped through to collect essential hero points on my alts, and I’m working on my griffon now. The double mastery weeks have been awesome; I wish ArenaNet did them more often. This feels like a more natural rate of gain.

I’m a pacer. I pace. Wireless headphones have meant I can’t stop myself from pacing even when recording the podcast. (Sorry!) It just helps me think and work things through.

Carlo Lacsina (@UltraMudkipEX): I plan in doing some high level content in Final Fantasy XIV with the wifey tomorrow. I’ve started using a parse so I’m working towards being more efficient at playing my classes while avoiding mechanics. Other then that, I’ll be diving into some Teamfight Tactics as well. I like how the game pretty much plays like Mahjong and there’s no need to buy cardpacks or anything like that.

As for a weird habit… I like to eat the sweet stuff before the entree if I get a lunchbox. I have a sharp taste so I’m not too fond of sweets. I like the feeling of something savory slowly replacing the sweet.

Chris Neal (@wolfyseyes, blog): Mostly Dauntless once again. I’ve got a couple of missions to complete before being able to try the Trial Islands. I’ll also be playing a fair bit of Daemon X Machina as a palate cleanse; you have NO idea how long I have been thirsting for an Armored Core game in the modern console age, and boy is this one good.

I have a one weird…habit? Character trait? Compulsion? That I have had for a long while and I don’t know where it stems from. When I’m bored, I like to find and arrange triangular shapes using objects laying around my desk, like pieces of paper angled with the base of a monitor to form a triangle in the empty space or an envelope angled over a book to create four triangles. For some reason, I feel an odd sort of comfort when I do that and I don’t get why.

Colin Henry (@ChaosConstant): I’ll probably be playing mostly Guild Wars 2 this weekend. I’d love to have my Skyscale finished in time for Tuesday’s Bound by Blood release, but I don’t think that’s gonna happen. Like a lot of players, I kind of stalled when it came to collecting all of the map currencies. Also, the more I play World of Warcraft: Classic, the more I want to play Lord of the Rings Online. Maybe it’s just because they’re so similar mechanically, or maybe it’s because it’s because I keep seeing all of these nostalgic players in WoW and it makes me want to play a game that I have actual nostalgia for. I’m hopelessly behind on the legendary server at this point, so I’ll probably just go back to the normal servers and work on my Rune Keeper.

Eliot Lefebvre (@Eliot_Lefebvre, blog): Between my usual antics in FFXIV and the newly released Greedfall, I should be full up on stuff to do this weekend. So watch me make a hard turn and do something totally different, I don’t trust myself with these things.

Honestly, people seem to think a bunch of my habits are a bit on the odd side, but my wife will occasionally tease me for my habit of eating every meal starting with the side dishes and then ending with the main dish in a very methodical fashion. It’s just about what the last taste in my mouth winds up being.

Justin Olivetti (@Sypster, blog): Now that I’ve gotten flying in Battle for Azeroth (huzzah), I’m turning my attention back to my Hunter whom I’m going to train up in Engineering. I haven’t done any serious crafting in World of Warcraft for a long time and am actually pretty excited about it.

Mia DeSanzo (@neschria): I will be back in WoW Classic and Trove. My 4-year-old is interested in watching me play Trove, because it looks like Minecraft, which he watches his sister play. I have friends playing WoW Classic that I might try to catch up with. I have a lot of other domestic and academic stuff to do, but I am treating the games as a reward.

Weirdest habit? I rinse glasses when I take them out of the cabinet before using them.

Samon Kashani (@thesamkash): This will be a good weekend for Crowfall but I also want to spend some more time in Legends of Aria. I made it through the first few skill leveling (or whatever it is called) and reading Chris’s play through got me interested in jumping back in.

Weird habits… perhaps singing out loud any random tune at the top of my lungs whether or not anyone is around to get annoyed by it.

Tyler Edwards: I’ve been talking about it for ages, but I finally did it: I started another playthrough of Mass Effect: Andromeda. Gods I love the new game+ in this. I already have a bajillion skill points and all the gear I could possibly need for any build, so I can just focus on the story. No grinding needed; I’m not even bothering to loot bodies. I’m planning to romance Jaal this time, but Peebee also tempts me, and I can’t rule out the possibility that I’ll just end up throwing myself at Suvi again. That said I may not have that much time for video gaming this weekend. I’m doing a second play test of my table-top RPG on Saturday and going to an amusement park with my friends on Sunday.

Bonus question: Whenever I pour myself a drink, I always need to take a small sip immediately. It’s a compulsion. Also, like Bree, I spend a lot of time pacing.
