Final Fantasy XI brings out the Harvest Festival for another year of costumed antics

Classy.

Players with long memories who were there for the Final Fantasy XI launch in North America no doubt recall that it coincided with the game’s Halloween event, meaning that your first memories of the game included people running around after ghosts, imps, and ghouls in the main cities for event mechanics that were barely understood at the time. Fortunately for veterans – or newer players – the Harvest Festival has been both refined and expanded over the subsequent years, so if you dive into the event when it arrives again on October 24th, you’ll have a clear idea of what to do and plenty of things to do besides.

This can, of course, include chasing after costumed entertainers to turn in sweets. It can also include buying seasonal items to decorate your Mog House, helping junior exorcists practice the art of banishing spirits, or just showing off your flair for the dramatic in a costume contest. The event runs until November 7th, so you’ll have plenty of time to get rewards and take part in the fun, especially if you’re still after that darn staff all these many years later.
