It’s time to slap boss monsters silly for rewards and the favor of War, the Horseman of the Apocalypse! No, it’s not the plot of a homemade RPG Maker game, it’s the crux of RuneScape’s latest piece of content War’s Retreat, which is officially live as well as the return of the Winter Chill Off.

Just in case you missed out on the preview rundown, War’s Retreat is a PvM hub that will see players taking on some of the game’s toughest foes in order to earn Marks of War, which can be used to get a variety of perks for both the hub itself and player characters.

The latest update has also brought back the Skill Off competition with the Winter Chill Off, where players can earn skill tokens by completing one of six chosen skills. These tokens can then be turned in to vote for a favorite skill to win the competition. This year’s event introduces sub-tasks for players to complete and offers up rewards like the Blightreaver Staff, a Mini-Morn pet, and returning rewards from the Summer Skill Off. The event runs between now and February 3rd.

There’s also the usual number of tweaks and fixes made to the game in this update as well, which are all pointed out in this week’s patch notes. Additionally, players can get a more detailed breakdown of the mechanics of War’s Retreat in this week’s update post.
