So it looks like Magic: Legends will have something of a housing system, but this is less about cosmetic style and more about character substance judging from the latest dev blog. Say hello to your Realm, your personal home base where your Planeswalkers can further grow in their power.
As of right now, the idea of a Realm sounds like a sort of UI element at the moment, but the devs are considering making Realms a personal location that can be interacted with. In whatever shape it takes, Realms will let players enhance their character by running projects at their Realm’s workstations, which in turn will provide benefits like new spells, class unlocks, mission reward multipliers, and new Artifacts. At the heart of the Realm is the Aetheric Core, which can be leveled up to improve the effectiveness of each workstation. Incidentally, projects and workstations will be the focus for a dev blog next week.
The purpose of player Realms is twofold, offering players another form of long-term progression as well as visually illustrate player characters growing in power. Of course, since Magic: Legends is still in development, specifics are due to change, but it all sounds like another layer on top of routine leveling.
