We’re still several weeks away from the Steel Dawn release in Fallout 76; Bethsoft’s just announced that it’s launching December 1st. And we’re even further out from the game’s new season. But Bethsoft is rolling out a promo video this week all the same: This one focuses on Rahmani, Shin, and Valdez, the key NPCs being introduced as part of the plot.

“Prepare to welcome the Brotherhood of Steel to Appalachia in Steel Dawn, the next free update for all Fallout 76 players releasing December 1,” Bethsoft writes. “Steel Dawn is the first chapter of the Brotherhood of Steel questline and expands on the new life brought to Appalachia from April’s Wastelanders update, adding new NPC’s, new locations to visit, C.A.M.P. Shelters for expanded building options, new weapons and armor to earn, and much more. Alongside the return of the Brotherhood, Steel Dawn introduces a new Season (beginning December 15) and S.C.O.R.E. board as well as many additional improvements to the game.” We’ve got the new trailer and new pics down below.

This should be interesting. I wish it was the existing Crater or Foundation factions resisting the BoS, though. Not sure who that leader actually is, but a few folks on Reddit (who presumably have been playing on the PTS) seem pretty confident that she’s from the Blood Eagles, who up to this point have been 100% pure aggro-on-sight assholes. I think it would make a better story if the BoS were rubbing the existing local powers the wrong way instead of just getting on the bad side of the irredeemable asshole faction.

I get that this is what people want, but BoS would be much better used as an invasion force because lets face it, they’re the villains of the fallout world.

I think FO4 used them best. Yes, they’re an invasion force, but they’re one that you can imagine reasonable people backing.

That’s why I wish it was Crater rather than the Blood Eagles against the BoS. Like, they’re Raiders, so there’s still a plausible reason to side with the BoS instead, but they’re also not that bad for being Raiders so you can still side with them against the BoS without being an outright Chaotic Evil character.

But it seems like we’re not getting a choice here, unfortunately, unlike FO4.
