For those who like to celebrate the season by blowing away enemy teams or playing card games, it is now the most wonderful time of the year as Overwatch and Hearthstone have both begun their holiday-themed events.

In Hearthstone, there’s Winter Veil shenanigans including a Gift Exchange Tavern Brawl and the Wacky Waxy Winter Veil Tavern Brawl, as well as the return of the Winter Veil Wreath card back. For those who prefer to play solo, there’s a new Book of Heroes quest chain focused on Garrosh releasing today and another Book of Heroes quest line focused on Uther the Lightbringer on January 5th. Finally, Battlegrounds mode is introducing limited-time Darkmoon Prizes that introduce unique mechanics to Battlegrounds matches and adding C’Thun, N’Zoth, and Y’Shaarj as playable heroes. The patch notes have additional details.

Meanwhile, Overwatch has kicked off Winter Wonderland 2020 with the usual cadre of new and returning seasonal skins, emotes, and intros for the shooter’s roster. The event also brings back Mei’s Snowball Offensive, Yeti Hunt, and Snowball Deathmatch, and a new 4v4 Freezethaw Elimination brawl mode that tasks players with freezing every opponent on the other side to win instead of killing them, which can be circumvented when teammates interact with the frozen player. Finally, Winter Wonderland will bring back weekly challenges for additional goodies.
