MassivelyOP’s not-so-serious end-of-the-year awards conclude today as we honor MOP reader Schlag, our local meme-maker and resident comment trickster, who somehow manages to say with his custom memes what the rest of us are thinking. We’ve been cheering him on with this award for the best meme of the year for years now, and we’re gonna say farewell to 2020 by doing it again.
And the winner for Schlag meme of the year 2020 is…
LOADTRO
Lord of the Rings Online suffered weeks of downtime and backlash over its poor communication this year, and Schlag rose to the occasion. After all, we had nothing better to do while waiting for SSG to get the servers back up! Also, “LOADTRO” is brilliant. (For attribution’s sake, the original image is Ted Nasmith’s 1996 “Password Into Moria.” But the loading swirly is all Schlag.)
