Fallout 76’s next update will finally allow players to build and store multiple C.A.M.P.s

Fallout 76 just pumped out an update – and Bethesda is already looking ahead to the next one. Most notably, the studio is working on what it’s calling S.P.E.C.I.A.L. Loadouts – i.e., ways to reset your attributes – plus a new aim assist setting, batch crafting, world activity menu tweaks, melee buffs, and an expansion to the daily ops system meant to “nearly [double] the amount of randomized content that’s currently available.” But for sandboxers, the most interesting bit is the upgrades to C.A.M.P.s by way of camp slots.

“It can be tough to decide between building a brand-new home or sticking with your current C.A.M.P. creation, because you can only have one at a time,” Bethsoft says. “Going forward, you won’t have to choose whether to open a Wasteland B&B, fortify a Free States outpost, or run your own Red Rocket Station – Instead, C.A.M.P. Slots will help you do it all. Your characters will be able to build multiple different C.A.M.P.s, each with its own location, build budget, custom name, and even a unique map icon. While you will only be able to have one active C.A.M.P. at a time, you can easily switch among them using a new C.A.M.P. Builds widget or your C.A.M.P. icons on the map.”

“Further, managing the items you want to sell has never been easier, because your Vending Machines will now feature a large pool of item slots that are shared for every instance, across all your C.A.M.P.s. Display Cases will be separate per C.A.M.P., allowing you to showcase different items at each one. Along with these changes, we’re also working to enable Displays in Shelters, so that you have even more opportunities to show off your loot. We’re still implementing some of this Vending and Display functionality, so these changes may arrive after the PTS has already begun.”

I haven’t logged back in for a while, i’ve been waiting for triangle / wedge foundations — I haaate the blocky nature that everything looks like, coming from games like Ark and Conan Exiles.

It’s a good change, maybe even a great one, but it’s not quite enough for me to come back with.

I’m so glad they kept on with the updates. It’s funny, I came back to the game in December and was a little worried that I won’t get enough time to play because I will be stuck playing Cyberpunk 2077 for a very long time.

Yeah that didn’t happen, 3-4 days later I was back playing 76 and I am still having a blast.

Well SPECIAL loadouts is kind of nice for folks who want a better way to respec, but that’s utter crap for anyone who just wants to swap perk loadouts on the fly. From what it sounds like, perk card loadouts are going to be tied to SPECIAL loadouts so you’ll be stuck having to only swap perk card loadouts at these punch-in terminals or such. That helps when you’re at your CAMP or a Train Station and want to craft/repair/harvest stuff, sure, but does nothing when you’re out in the field and need to say, move perk cards around so you can lockpick a tier 3 lock or hack into a tier 3 computer.

Now sure, they added legendary perk cards for those and all that, but you can’t really afford a slot for that until you’re in the hundreds level-wise, and it’s inconvenient/clunky as heck to have to swap cards one by one. Same thing goes for if I get thrown in a team situation and want to swap out Lone Wanderer for one of my team-effort Charisma cards.

Sometimes it’s better to just be grateful for new gifts instead of cursing the darkness.

True but this is still a AAA studio and they’ve yet to also add in something as simple/necessary to PC players as Text speech.

I still havent figured out how to store just the ONE camp I have. I only seemed to be able to save a portion of what I built, and that portion was odd. IE: It saved the floor, walls, half the roof, and half of the ramp leading up to it. None of my walkways, porch, sentries, or farming stuff got saved. And this was just a small little camp.

Im actually enjoying the game now though, except for how hard it is to find others to play with except for those farming quick XP. Not being able to use text chat in game really sucks. You cant simply say in general chat, “Hey, im level 19 and am looking for someone to duo story quests with”

Used to happen when you “moved” camp. It would save your camp as a template (typically the building as one thing and all the internal and external stuff individually to be placed back in once the building is placed down again).

It may have changed however.

Open up a bit, join a public team with similar level players and “talk” to them.

Won’t take long before you’ll find someone who talks back, and you might even make new friends.

so far all the public teams in the games ive been in have been 100+ levels above me (im only about 14 now, just taking it slow, doing every exploration and quest I come across).

I wasn’t expecting their loadout system to include a full SPECIAL respec, which is awesome.

I wonder does each camp have access to the full build limit, or do all camps build from the one limit? If A) then yay, if B) then boo :)

Sounds like they should have their own limits since they’re technically completely individual camps and you only have access to one time at any given time.

That would be my hope too,

But with some of the silly things Bethesda has done with Fallout 76 since its release, I wouldn’t like to presume :)

Nice,

Although this does raise questions about real estate there are certain locations that are desirable that many people try to build on. Up to now when someone else builds on a spot you have built on it loads you into another instance where someone hasn’t if available otherwise packs up your camp into a blueprint.

Now with multiple bases and people leaving bases on the desirable locations all over we are going to run out of free instances REAL quick lol

This is legitimately incredible and could put a near end to loading in with someone squatting at your camp site. Reading between the lines, it also seems like vending machines could be getting their own dedicated storage? If so It could put a near end to the bug where people could steal stuff you’re not even selling through the vending machine interface.
