The freshly baked pie of Update 8 for Elite Dangerous: Odyssey has barely had time to cool, yet Frontier Developments is already talking up where the game is going next, providing a preview of features coming with Update 9 and beyond.

Update 9 will be introducing a new two-seater combat SRV, which will be previewed soon, as well as a number of additions to on-foot missions including mission contacts at planetary POIs and settlements among other promised updates. The next update will also introduce a multi-limpet controller that works in addition to existing limpet controllers, allowing players to deploy multiple limpet types using a single module slot.

Beyond Update 9, the devs are working on interiors for fleet carriers, which will offer storefronts depending on what services a carrier has and allow players to experience a hyperspace jump from the inside. Fleet carrier interiors will also have escape pods players can use to vacate a carrier if they so wish, and fleet carrier owners will also be able to get new optional services. A deeper tour of this work will be showcased in a tour this coming December.
