The Daily Grind: What do you think about MMO festival reprises?

One habit that Lord of the Rings Online likes to do is bring back its festivals out of season for a “reprise” — a one-week return of the event so that players who missed out or who didn’t quite get everything done previously can do so without having to wait a full year.

You know what? I kind of like it. Sure, it can be a little weird to see Halloween pop up in the middle of, say, January, but why not? We’ve often complained about the pressure and inconvenience that fixed MMO festivals present, so a bit of a relief valve in the form of a reprise offers some flexibility for our schedules.
