The Daily Grind: Have you ever learned anything useful from MMOs?

Earlier this fall, my family went on a hike in our favorite spot to check out the autumn foliage, and my husband started talking about the types of trees. I heard him explaining to my kids the difference between birch and beech trees.

Now, my husband is an astrophysicist, and I’ve never known him to be particularly interested in trees, so I asked him how he knew that.

He smirked at me and said, “I learned it in Valheim.”

Friends, I laughed very hard, but also that’s kind of awesome! Apparently the game goes out of its way to make the species differences somewhat accurate and important to gameplay, and it taught him something… well, maybe not useful, but fun for trivia night.
