MMO account unlocks: You know they’re one of the most powerful legal narcotics of the video game age. By pre-ordering this title, snapping up a collector’s edition of that, winning a contest, participating in an event, or doing any number of other things, players can build up quite the collection of permanent account unlocks for any and all new characters.
Probably the MMO that I have the most of these is RIFT, followed closely by LOTRO. I have an embarrassing number of mounts, bags, pets, titles, dimensions, consumables, and other goodies waiting for any new RIFT character I roll — so much so that it usually takes about a half-hour to sort through them all. I’m not complaining, though!
