The Daily Grind: How can Elder Scrolls Online become exciting again?

In almost all of the dialogues I have with people about Elder Scrolls Online, I keep hearing the same things: It’s a well-done game that’s come a long way from its shaky launch to present a large buffet of content. It’s got a lot of fun systems, great voice acting, and some fascinating stories.

And it’s kind of boring.

That’s a faintly damning thing to be saying about such a major competitor and IP in this space, but — and this is coming from a fan — it’s kind of true. This MMO plays it so incredibly safe with its releases and hasn’t done much to shake up the status quo or make big headlines in the past several years.

So how can that change? What could ZeniMax do to regain Elder Scrolls Online’s zest and appeal? How could this MMO become a must-play event when it comes out with its annual expansion?

Every morning, the Massively Overpowered writers team up with mascot Mo to ask MMORPG players pointed questions about the massively multiplayer online roleplaying genre. Grab a mug of your preferred beverage and take a stab at answering the question posed in today’s Daily Grind!
