Perhaps I think or say this every year, but I truly feel that 2023’s BlizzCon is setting up for a make-or-break moment for Blizzard. There are so many expectations, questions, and concerns being heaped on the studio in light of its lawsuits, Microsoft buyout, and development pipeline. I can’t imagine how the leadership at Blizz is handling the pressure of having to reassure fans that it’s got a bold vision for its future despite the many missteps of the past several years.
And I can’t imagine how Chris Metzen isn’t going to suddenly collapse from the weight of millions of World of Warcraft players trusting that he’ll pull off a miracle.
