Under a Rock is a multiplayer survivalbox full of oversized creatures, Neanderthals, and dangerous magic

“Ever wonder how you and your closest friends would fare stranded on an island where Neanderthals still exist, and magic can be just as deadly as the forces of nature?” That’s the question that’s being posed by Under a Rock, an upcoming survival sandbox from developer Nordic Trolls and publisher Gameforge that lets players come together to explore a land where “wildlife is oversized, Neanderthals still exist, and curses are real.”

In Under a Rock, up to 10 players can come together to explore a procedurally generated island and engage in all of the usual survival sandbox trappings like base building, exploration, gathering, farming, and crafting, all in the hopes of fighting off dangerous creatures and powerful curses. Speaking of creatures, there are adorable yet fierce beasties to tame, ride, and breed, and players can also take on cooking to protect themselves against curses and biome hazards.

The game has been in development for what appears to be quite some time, making its arrival to Steam in 2022; Nordic Trolls has been posting development blogs there ever since. Under a Rock is headed for early access sometime in the future on both Steam and the Epic Games Store, while its release is planned for PC, Xbox X|S, and PlayStation 5.
