The Day Before actually launched – and it’s already being savaged in reviews

yayyyyy

Does anything inspire faith in a game more than the developers coming out to specifically say that their game is not a scam or asset flip? Because The Day Before did that, and as soon as that happened those of us who follow this stuff got ready for the bloodbath that was soon to follow. It might as well have told everyone that it just put down its last payment on a new boat. And here’s the game now, launched into Early Access with a delightful “Overwhelmingly Negative” score above its $40 price tag.

Review critiques include noting that the game is not in fact a massive open world but is a small-scale extraction shooter with terrible enemy AI, that progression is lacking, that there are no survival mechanics… you get the idea. No one has yet accused the game of giving them a case of scabies, but you have to assume it’s a matter of time. On the bright side, no one has yet explicitly called the game an asset flip, so on that standard the game is doing great. Thumbs up.
