Welcome back to MassivelyOP’s not-so-serious end-of-the-year awards as we present our award for Best Worst MMO Charity Effort. Yes, it’s the Golden Yachties series, named in honor of those bright sparks absolutely convinced that video game blogging is a lucrative career and we’re all sailing ’round the world on ships of gold. (Stay in school, kids.)
And the winner is…
DIABLO IV’S BLOOD DRIVE
So here’s a wholesome but super weird thing that totally happened this year: Blizzard decided that to usher in (and naturally promote) Diablo IV’s Season of Blood, it would hand out in-game rewards if the playerbase donated blood (actual blood) to their local blood bank and snagged a receipt to prove they’d done their good deed. It’s actually a genius promotion, when you think about it, and it’s hard to argue with a promo that’s also a noble cause. Happy Christmas!
