We’re wrapping up MassivelyOP’s not-so-serious end-of-the-year awards today as we present our award for Best Worst MMO Post. Yes, it’s the Golden Yachties series, named in honor of those bright sparks absolutely convinced that video game blogging is a lucrative career and we’re all sailing ’round the world on ships of gold. (Stay in school, kids.)
And the winner is…
EXTRA-STRENGTH KAEL DRAKKEL
Y’all know that I let Eliot loose to engage in all kinds of shenanigans on the site, most notably in WRUP. But my favorite Eliot posts are the ones that look totally normal at first glance. And then, when you peer closer, you realize that not only is the post 1) a bit, but it’s also 2) hilarious and 3) still managing to convey all the information it’s meant to.
So it goes with Eliot’s random news article on EverQuest II’s new progression server, delivered in the style of a pharmaceutical advertisement. This is my absolute favorite type of mischief post. AI could never.
Shall we highlight a few more silly ones?
- Chris’ P10s are some of my favorites; this year he did 10 MMORPGs as Saturday morning cartoons and 10 MMORPGs as Jell-o flavors.
- Justin’s titles are often full of tomfoolery! This year he turned in Palia’s present patch provides popular personalization and plot perks – apparently helped along by his son – to say nothing of stomach polyps and potato frames.
- And how could I forget Eliot’s Prettier Healing Hanzo?
