Albion Online elaborates on territory mechanic changes coming with the Crystal Raiders update

Albion Online continues to feverishly bang the hype drum for its upcoming Crystal Raiders update. Following a tweet that referenced territory changes related to energy storage, Sandbox Interactive has penned a more in-depth look at just what those changes will entail along with other territory updates players may care to learn.

As reported previously, energy stores in held territory can be attacked in territory raids, which will occur on a daily basis during a server’s prime time. The attacking side does have to clear specific enemies first, but if it does complete a raid then half of the stored energy is stolen in the form of raw energy crystals. The intention with this increased frequency of raiding is to force guilds to marshal their forces but also open ways for defenders to be spread thin and allow smaller groups the opportunity to assault territory.

On top of the new raiding mechanics, other territory mechanics are getting tweaked: Territories near portal towns will have higher control costs, siphoned energy and seasonal point output will be weighted more for territories in the inner circle of the Outlands, territory attack costs will scale up with region quality and tower level, and stored energy payouts will be adjusted. Basically there are a lot of things that guilds will want to consider if they wish to hold land in the Outlands.
