I still like to pretend he's starting a new musical career.

If you want to get things done in Final Fantasy XIV this week, you should make sure to do so before Monday, January 15th. That’s because the game is going down for 24 hours of maintenance starting at 5:00 a.m. EST on January 15th, running until 5:00 a.m. EST on January 16th. And it’s not just for the release of patch 6.55, although that’s going to be the big impact for the majority of our readers.

The longer-than-normal maintenance will involve substantial equipment replacement for the game’s Japanese data centers, so characters visiting other worlds or data centers will be returned to their homes as part of the maintenance. In addition, the launcher will be unavailable during the first half of the maintenance. So get what you need finished up before Monday and just chill until the latest set of patch content arrives. No point in stressing about it; when the patch is here you’ll meet a lady Hrothgar. That’ll be fun.
