Whatever happened to Citadel Forged with Fire?

It’s been a while since survival sandbox Citadel: Forged with Fire dropped off our radar following its November 2019 release. So what’s been going on with Blue Isle’s spellcasting RPG in the past few years?

Some good news to hear is that Citadel is still technically alive; the studio is still talking it up and highlighting player creations. The most significant recent development happened last May, when the studio took down a few of the more inactive servers to encourage the player populations to condense. Players were given the option to download their data in case they wanted to move it to a private shard.

Even so, it does look like things might be winding down on the development front. The last patch to hit the game was in March 2021, and the studio hasn’t run any special events or holidays since that year. That’s led reviewers to deem it abandoned and complain about the lack of fellow players.

Citadel: Forged with Fire is currently on sale at 75% off, meaning that you can pick up a Steam copy for $10 through January 3rd.
