Final Fantasy XIV will charge sales tax on subscriptions and purchases starting June 25

Golden locks.

If you have some purchases in the Final Fantasy XIV store you really want to make soon, we suggest you do so now, as they’ll be very marginally more expensive on June 25th. The official site has announced that starting on the 25th the store will be adding sales tax to subscription fees and store purchases as applicable by state and location. This change will not apply retroactively, only moving forward, but does apply to any and all purchases of Crysta or normal recurring subscriptions.

Thus, it’s important to make sure that the address registered on your account is accurate, since otherwise you might get charged incorrectly. So if you haven’t checked your registered address in a while and intend to keep subscribing, you… should probably do that. And it also means prices will very slightly increase from where they are now. Stupid sales tax. (We checked, and you cannot fix this by sending your retainer to another location as you can in-game.)
