Muleshoe, TX: Neither David Duchovny nor myself have ever been in Muleshoe to the best of my knowledge.
Any part of Austria: Due to the outstanding duel between my family and several Austrian dukes, not to mention the curse of the Stone Witch, I simply cannot take the chance of setting foot in Austria unless there is the most minor chance I might reclaim the Sword of Flowers from where it lies beneath the stone cairn. David Duchovny, meanwhile, just doesn’t care for Austria.
Vancouver, Canada: You know how you really want things to happen, but one of you has a popular television series to film and the other one has to finish a duel with the Wendigo? Yeah, this was that situation. In fairness, Duchovny really messed up that Wendigo, it was pretty awesome.
The comment section of What Are You Playing: I mean, it hasn’t happened that you know about.
New York, NY: All right, so this one is actually a funny story, because we did kiss here but it was close-mouthed because we both had a bet we were trying to win against a real estate agent who was attempting to sell me a yurt. I didn’t really want a yurt but it was a free yurt, you know? And it was right off of Central Park, it had just been zoned for yurt placement due to a typo. So we had a chance to win a free yurt but wouldn’t you know it, we had to kiss without tongue and I don’t think we ever actually got that yurt. Man, now I want a yurt. How much does a yurt cost on eBay?
Bonus question: What’s the first music you remember personally owning, either as an album or just a single track? What’s the first music you remember personally owning, either as an album or just a single track?
Andy McAdams: I will be in Final Fantasy XIV: Dawntrail all weekend. I know there’s some “controversy” over the story [Editor’s note: Put forth by Mark Kern, so that should tell you how seriously to take that controversy] but I’ve really enjoyed it. I just got to the “second half” where things get spicy again but I really enjoyed part one of it as well.
Bonus: Uh, I wanna say something TLC maybe, in a cassette tape. I think I inherited it from my older brother who was suddenly too cool to be listening to TLC. But this is all pretty murky at this point.
Brianna Royce (@nbrianna, blog): I thought I wouldn’t have time, but I am gonna carve out a chunk to go do some City of Heroes testing. I wanna see how Marine Affinity works on the Homecoming test server.
Thriller. My brother and I had one of those rickety toy record players and my parents must have decided their Thriller album was acceptable to give to small children. I remember where I was, so I would’ve been about five years old, and Thriller was… not new. We also had Ewoks Join the Fight from this same era, lol.
Chris Neal (@wolfyseyes, blog): By the time this goes to print, I will likely have my Final Fantasy XIV Dancer job leveled to 100, so I’ll probably either start the trek to kitting that our or leveling another job, likely Pictomancer. I also find myself jonesing for some City of Heroes so I’ll probably be doing that, as well as considering my next adventure in The Elder Scrolls Online.
Bonus: I immediately recall the answer to this one: REM’s album Monster. I was encouraged to try this album out by playing this CD-ROM promotional… game? Thing? that was styled around the album’s art and its songs, but marketing schlock aside, it was an outstanding record and one part of the soundtrack of my life in the mid-’90s (the other part was Counting Crows’ Recovering the Satellites).
Eliot Lefebvre (@Eliot_Lefebvre, blog): It’s still FFXIV for me. Of course it’s still FFXIV. What in the world else would it be? Come on, people, I have a couple weeks until World of Warcraft even drops the pre-patch.
You know, the irony is that the first album I ever actually owned was one that really predates me; I was gifted a CD of The White Album by the Beatles, which was actually one of the first albums I ever listened to as a little child. I was really fond of it. (It was hardly the last, though.)
Sam Kash (@thesamkash): I believe the final chapter of this Harry Potter Magic Awakened seasonal story arc just dropped so I’ll try to squeeze that in. I’m almost level 100 which is really crazy because I never imagined I’d stick with the game this long. We recently had the games 1st anniversary and the rewards were decent.
Bonus: I actually really remember it. My parents took me to the CD shop, a Hastings I think, and I spent my allowance on 2 albums: Eagle Eyed Cherry and Third Eye Blind. I listened to this discs easily a hundred times.
Tyler Edwards (blog): I bought the much-maligned Saints Row reboot on the Steam sale, so I’ll be checking that out. I may also dip into the beta weekend for Age of Mythology: Retold, but I also may not. I’ll have access to the full game in about two months anyway.
Bonus question: When first I got my MP3 player (which I still use), I mostly just imported songs I liked from my father’s collection, but I did buy a few things for myself off the bat. I’ve mostly forgotten what that would have included, but I believe Young Blood by The Naked and Famous and Take Me to the Riot by Stars must have been on the list.
