Gamigo is closing down RIFT EU server Bloodiron, the last PvP bastion in the game

Pour one out for one of the few remaining RIFT servers: Bloodiron is closing down. Gamigo made the announcement this morning, characterizing it as the closure of a European server.

“On September 30, 2024, the European shard Bloodiron will be closed as part of our efforts to consolidate shards within the EU region,” the company says. “Our goal is to make it easier for players in the European region to find fellow Ascended and embark on new adventures together.”

But as MOP tipster and MMO veteran Clowd points out, Bloodiron was also the last PvP server for the game, so while Gamigo is suggesting that EU players move to the Brisesol, Brutwacht or Typhiria servers – which you can do freely using the transfer server – it doesn’t leave PvP-minded players a PvP option long-term.

“Characters that are not transferred to Brisesol, Brutwacht or Typhiria before September 30, 2024, will become unavailable, and regular play will not be possible. We advise you to transfer to your preferred shard as soon as possible. Please note that during this period, the character limit on the EU region will be lifted to facilitate transfers. We recommend having no more than 14 characters on a single shard. If you exceed this limit, characters beyond the 14th will become inaccessible, and the only way to recover them is to delete some of your accessible characters.”
