If you were keeping an eyeball on City of Heroes’ Homecoming not-rogue servers over the last month, you already knew that the player-led volunteer team was working on a new patch – and as of today, it’s live on the real servers, not just in beta. Issue 28: Legacy, Page 1 offers several key content updates, including a new raid zone, new story arc, and a new powerset.

Let’s start with the powerset, Marine Affinity, which we previewed ourselves on the MOP Podcast a few weeks back. It’s a water-themed – ocean-themed, really – support set for Defenders (primary) and Controllers, Corruptors, and Masterminds (secondary), complete with dolphins and tentacles. “Marine Affinity allows players to command the power of the Oceans to buff their friends and wash away their enemies,” the devs write. “This set focuses on turning the tides of battle with several area-based buffs and debuffs, specifically bolstering ally damage while dampening enemy damage potential. Thematically, the set’s area coverage allows you to either spread out areas of effect in a wide but shallow pool, or dive deep in one spot to bowl over enemies.”

The raid zone, Labyrinth of Fog, is aimed at endgamers and dips back into the Midnighter Club storyline, while the new story arc begins at level 41 with Ashling Corlett in Steel Canyon. Definitely check out the patch notes on the official site, as there’s more to the update, including a revamp of the Warriors gang, new costume and badge bits, and bug fixes.
