Corepunk halts pre-orders, says ‘level of interest in the project has exceeded […] expectations’

Too popular for its own good

Corepunk’s Artificial Core announced last night that it is shutting down pre-orders for the MMOARPG – but not out of a sense of impending doom. Instead, it’s because the studio said that the title “received enough pre-orders to achieve [the team’s] goals,” especially for the current Alpha 4 testing.

If you didn’t get a copy of Corepunk, don’t fret: Artificial Core said that it will resume sales around the early access launch on November 26th.

Of course, the game has struggled quite publicly since the alpha 4 floodgates opened, so the pause in sales has a few convenient side effects. In regards to the shaky testing process and multiple wipes, the studio admitted that “the number of mistakes [it] made was beyond the norm, and it would be foolish to deny or ignore this.”

However, this all comes with a silver lining, according to the devs: “The level of interest in the project has exceeded all our expectations. We are getting a lot of positive feedback on the game’s concept and its uniqueness. It has also been a great joy to see the game’s ability to maintain a stable online presence, even in an absurd situation where the servers were crashing every hour for a week.”
