You have one year to move your Skyforge account and characters to the new publisher, starting… now

At the end of August, we were startled to learn that MY.GAMES had sold sci-fantasy MMORPG Skyforge to another company and was transferring publishing to yet a third party. The story – coaxed mostly out of kind PR folks, as the original memo was so unclear – is that MY.GAMES sold 2015 MMO Skyforge to a US-based company called Music Guru and is now finalizing the transfer to Music Guru’s chosen publisher, Innnova – the EU 4game version, not the Russian version. At the time, MY.GAMES reassured players that the transfer would be happening this year, but not when this year, and that players wouldn’t be losing their accounts, character, or data in the process.

Well, now we’re getting more clarity on that process. According to a post that came out and is dated today (September 5th), the process actually began yesterday (September 4th) without warning, which is always fun. So here’s the deal:

PC players on Steam can go fix themselves a sammich because all they have to do is log in after October 2nd to see the switcharoo handled. It’s all being turned over under the hood. Lucky you.

PC players on the MY.GAMES launcher will have to go through the Innova transfer page to port their MY.GAMES data to Innova. You basically have an entire year to do this before the transfer period ends, but you may as well do it sooner rather than later as you won’t be able to keep playing Skyforge through the MY.GAMES launcher after October 2nd anyhow. You’ll need the new Innova client.

“The game authorization will be fully switched to 4game on October 2, 2024. Until this date, you can continue playing via the MY.GAMES Launcher. Starting from October 2, you will no longer be able to log in to the MY.GAMES Launcher and will need to use the 4game Launcher. IMPORTANT: The transfer process will be available until September 4, 2025. Please ensure that you finish it before that date, as the transfer page will become unavailable from this point onwards.”

Do note that your MY.GAMES account will still remain functional for other MY.GAMES games.
