Diablo IV has made Blizzard $1 billion in revenue since launch

In spite of some gamer grumbling over the prices of things like crossover cosmetic outfits and portal effects, there has been a whole lot of spending by players of Diablo IV according to a now-deleted LinkedIn posting from the game’s Senior Product Manager Harrison Froeschke.

According to Froeschke’s job description section of his profile, D4 has helped Blizzard earn $1B in revenue since the game’s launch, with over $150M of those earnings coming from cosmetics and bundle offers.

Froeschke specifically said he helped in “execut[ing] every step of game sales since game pre-order to the first expansion by configuring and collaborating with other teams resulting in over $1B total lifetime revenue” but deleted the details shortly after they were posted – but not before Poland-based website GamePressure took a screenshot and shared it to the world.

Of course it’s important to point out that “revenue” doesn’t necessarily mean “profit” but even with that in mind, that is a lot of revenue and another illustration that oftentimes gamers just can’t help themselves. It’s also information that literally nobody has had access to before now; recall that Blizzard has not been forthright about revenue breakdowns for its games since the initiation of the sale of ABK to Microsoft.
