Ankama is moving its classic MMO Dofus from Flash to Unity engine on December 3

Adobe retired Flash in 2020, so it’s perhaps something of a surprise to learn that the turn-based MMO Dofus has been running on the Flash engine for several years after the fact. That time is finally nearing its end, however, as Ankama confirmed the game will move to the Unity game engine on Tuesday, December 3rd.

Beyond working in a game engine that actually has active support, the studio lauds the move as a way to improve the game’s technical performance, update its graphics, and ensure that Dofus “continue to prosper for many years to come.”

Testing of the Unity version of the game continued in last week’s beta test server update, which applied visual changes for classes and equipment, made interface adjustments, and optimized multi-account features. Following that, another test scheduled for November 5th will apply updates to shields, equipment, end-of-fight statistics, and character stats. Ankama will also share pre-registration details for new servers during a livestream on that same date.
