It’s been a few months since we’ve heard anything out of Donkey Crew’s early access settlement management sandbox Bellwright – a worrying development in light of the fate of the studio’s other early access title – but indeed development is continuing forth with word of a new feature coming in its next update.
The so-called prosperity system is effectively shorthand for an update to the way villages interact with one another in the game’s world, which will consider the safety and control of areas around the map will provide direct benefits to neighboring towns. This system can introduce things like better village traits and population sizes, the option to use militia as temporary mercenaries, and more trading options.
Naturally, players can directly affect village prosperity and the benefits they can provide. Given examples include adding an archery range to grant new archers to a town’s militia and directly protecting villages to help increase its safety and encourage more boons. There’s no timeline for the arrival of this feature or the rest of the game’s update, but Donkey Crew promises that it will be worth the wait.
On the subject of Bellwright, we’re currently seeing that player numbers on Steam appear to have leveled off somewhat, while user reviews have kept the sandbox in the “mostly positive” column. And as for Last Oasis, there has not been any news since its call for Season 6 testers last September.
