I realize that pirates are out of fashion nowadays, but I still really like the motif. I mean, not real pirates; they’re scary and revolting. I mean fun fantasy pirates! Swashbucklers and cool costumes and ridiculous catchphrases! It’s one of my favorite things to roleplay, especially if I can make it work as a scoundrel with a heart of gold.
I’ve been playing a lot of Guild Wars 2 lately, which in various content pits you against sky pirates – and just as often allies you with them. But they’re far from traditional pirates. And of course, we have Pirate101, which literally has pirates in the name. Where else should I go for cool pirates? Which MMO offers the best depiction of pirates?
