Fallout 76 begins player testing for playable ghouls tomorrowday

Ghoulfriends, your moment is almost here: The playable ghoul patch officially arrives on Fallout 76’s PTS tomorrow, December 20th.

Now, we’ve known that the TV-show-inspired playable ghouls were en route for months, and we even got a big teaser two months ago, but this will be the first time the broader playerbase has gotten to see them with their own eyes. According to Bethesda, players will be able to unlock ghoul form at level 50 through questing, then you can customize your ghoul’s appearance and have fun juggling your new feral meter, perk cards, and radiation heals. It kinda sounds like some of the specialty forms in Elder Scrolls Online, as you’ll be able to disguise your ghoul nature and even revert to human permanently in order to navigate the game’s faction system.

The final ghoul patch isn’t slated to go live until next year.

In other Fallout 76 news, Bethsoft announced last night that the ongoing holiday event wasn’t dropping enough gifts, so it increased the drops, which “had adverse effects on other parts of the game,” so now the team has reverted that change and is turning the event off today. The rest of the holiday festivities will soldier on, and extra gifts will be on offer for logging in every day from now until January 2nd.
